"The loud hailer was the first-ever transitional loud hailer. It was the first time Carnlough people used it at a public event. I was a member of the Carnlough Civic Committee and I remember one of our early achievements was when Miss Martha Sayers (local councillor) lobbied to provide early morning street lighting for those going to work. I also have many memories of Jim McNeill, who devised the concept of a civic festival."
