Story 2

"Every year people looked forward to the civic festival - it was something different. One of the main things I remember was the first year they put up lights and they only decorated the harbour. That was simple enough - they were easy put up. The second year they decided to extend the lights up through the village and out through the bay. I was recruited to help put up the bulbs. I spent the whole day high up in the bucket of a JCB digger, suspending thousands of bulbs along the road between telegraph poles. And at the end of the day I was given a 99 ice cream. That was fantastic!"
